Welcome Back!

Dear Parent(s), Guardian (s),

It’s here – another school year at the Island Public/Natural Science School!
Welcome to our new families and welcome back to those of you who are returning from what I hope was a relaxing and enjoyable summer.

I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself and say how excited I am to be at the Island Public/Natural Science School. Little did I know while completing my final teaching practicum at no other than the Island Public/Natural Science School so many years ago, that I would once again return to that very same school in the role as Principal. I’m thrilled.

I look forward to working with a dynamic staff, School Council, parents and our broader community in continuing to create a safe, inviting and inclusive environment; an environment where children flourish and our belief in them mirrors their belief in themselves. Our goal as a community – teachers, students, and parents working together – is to maintain the caring school culture we are so proud of. We strive to provide an environment where all students can realize their academic potential as well as their potential to make a difference in their community. We encourage full participation, critical thinking, independence, responsible self-esteem, and appreciation of others. It is this shared effort that provide our students with the tools and skills necessary for the future.

Sincerely,

Karen Urban
